Sometimes in your house, in the company´s meeting room and many other places the smartphone rings or a notification sound disrupts the conversation or still silence. It´s very disturbing and annoying.
So my solution will be (and I think it is a solution, which could be integrated later in the operationg system’s core) to place iBeacons in those rooms, which can be recognized by a background service and in case of finding the smartphone will be switched down to a configured set of notifications (vibration only or very quiet ones). The solution has to be used in rooms/buildings like:
Until there´s no special class of iBeacons for this use case (in the future the fixed part of the frame, called advertising prefix could have a different value for this class) a central web service should serve the UUIDs filtered by some geo-location data (very broad).
